A note about your blogs

Hi everyone,
I wanted to give you all some general feedback about your blogs this week. I have to say that overall we are not very pleased with the quality of the writing we have seen so far. We need you to be original in your thoughts and writings...just rehashing exactly what you read in the articles and saying "it's really cool" or it "opened your eyes" or that "connecting art and science is really important" is NOT going to cut it. We've not been grading down too much for it so far since the first two weeks are really about settling into the material, but starting with the week 3 blogs we're going to be expecting a lot more from you. We need to know that you've gone to outside sources and made an effort to understand and relate the material to yourself and to the bigger picture.
I also want to remind you that we will start grading down harder for blog posts that aren't properly cited in MLA format. That includes the works cited list as well as in-text citations. I have to stress that images are not sources, and there should only be one or two sources MAX that are actually from the course material, so remember that for next week. We need to see you going the extra step. That is the whole point of the blog.
A quick reminder: there is an Art|Sci Center exhibition on Thursday (tomorrow) that can count towards your events. I recommend you go and check it out! I'll be there. Come say hi if you like.
Thanks!
Rita
